I've noticed that when it comes to most non black hairstylists they usually cant do us blacks hair. (unless its maybe a weave) Especially wen it comes to the so called ';best stylists'; such as tabitha coffee. how can u be the best if u cant do all hair types? Wen u watch those style shows on bravo u rarely see black hair models at least unless the stylist is black.WHY CAN'T MOST NON-BLACK HAIR STYLISTS DO BLACK HAIR?

Noooo the first answer is WRONGGGGG!! its just like us being black dont know how to style stringgy oily hair that just sit there so when it comes to thicker hair they THINK they know how to style it but our hair is different they usually just try to style our hair as if were another race..

I have the type of hair that is near 4B and when I wash and dry my hair, it doesn't quite form an afro, because I've had my hair straightened with a hot comb all my life. But it does have alot of texture and it gets nappy!! And for the past 3 months, I have not placed any heat on my hair and worn it in twists.

From what I can tell from the picture, it looks like this what's called the two strand twist style. This is done while the hair is wet. Once the hair dry you begin to untwist each strand.





You can find tons of tutorial on how to achieve this style on You tube.


Type in the two strand twist style and you will see several videos to chose from. I have included a link below to to just one of several video tutorials to get you started.

cute style! You need to first condition, condition, condition! then throw on some setting lotion and roller set with spiral pin curls sit under the dryer and remove curlers then break up the curls in little pieces.

If you are currently letting a professional apply your relaxer then you should take this up with her and ask why your hair is not getting bone straight. If she doesn't give you a good answer then think about seeking advice from another professional, because every hair dresser does not have the same skills - some are just better and more knowledgeable than others.

Call the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce for recommendations of stylists in your area. Businesses that join the Chamber are usually professional. Then call the stylists and ask them for some REFERRALS of their customers. If you don't get referrals chances are they're not good!

To get her hair style you will have to have a few hundreds and go to a top hair stylist. And some will charge you extra for any extra hair they may have to add. Going to any salon and showing them her picture will likely have them try to get that style for you and it ALWAYS come out looking some other way, but slightly related to what you showed. I would do some online research for stylist in your area, and see if they have a website. But a white stylist may can do the same job exactly. So look for any race who may can pull it off. Too bad you don't live in New York or Florida then I could find you somebody...well in Florida lol.


But I believe its hair add on she used, mixed with her hair and some products I have no idea she used.

also her mom said her dad is italian so she could just wash it and put a little gel and leave in conditioner in it...

In defense of the asker, when people are looking for a black hair stylist; what they are usually looking for is a ';black hair'; stylist. We aren't NECESSARILY looking for a black person to style our hair; but a person who specializes in black hair. Why? If you treat black hair the same as other races hair, it's gonna break off and fall out. And usually, you do have to find a black person because most nonblack people don't do black hair or not well. There are some powerful chemicals used and serious heat from most black hair irons...put that stuff in inexperienced hands or hands used to finer white hair and you will have a bald and burt woman pretty quick!!! But the pref. is probably not for a black person, but any person who does black hair WELL.





As for suggestions; I find that J.C.Penny wherever I go gives consistent service. I've never gone to one and not found someone there certified in Mazani products or very experienced with a few other brands. And you might check the Dudley website or do a search for Dudley users in your city/state combo. Usually, if you find a stylist who is willing to jump through all the Dudley hoops in order to sell thier products; you've found an excellent stylist no matter the product.





Basically, whatever product you prefer (if you've got a favorite) search thier website for local salons that use it.Can anyone recommend a black hair stylist in Kansas City?

Why black? There is one thing that I don't understand about black people. They would call us racist if we wanted a white hairstylist but when an African American wants a black one, it's okay!
There used to be a good one named Dawn at the Regis in Independence Center. You might call them and ask. I don't know that she's there, but there is one there now, just not sure of her name or if it's Dawn or not. Good luck :)
